Our story

How we started

Founded in 2005 by Paul and Jen Nikkel, Maple Syrup Media built its reputation as cashback pioneers with Quidco. We’ve since consolidated our credentials in the UK with grocery and travel specific ventures, CheckoutSmart and EarnAway.

In 2010 we expanded into Europe launching a new cashback site in Germany (formally called Qipu, renamed Shoop) and in 2016 we launched Shoop in France. Our burgeoning team, based in London, Sheffield, Berlin, Paris and Durban, now operates Europe’s largest portfolio of cashback and loyalty platforms.

To date we’ve returned over £370 million cashback to customers and generated over £6.5 billion in incremental sales for our retail partners.

    • Quidco Compare launches offering cashback on car insurance
    • MSM launches new cashback service, Qipu, in Germany

    • Quidco Compare expands to offer cashback on home and travel insurance
    • Quidco and CheckoutSmart launch grocery cashback service, ClickSnap
    • Over £4 million cashback is paid to members each month

    • Quidco introduces two-tier membership, including new Premium service
